Police: 3 Arrested In Onamia Homicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Three people have been arrested in a March 2 slaying of a St. Cloud man in Onamia, according to the Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department.

After receiving tips from the public, tribal police say Leslie James Gahbow, 31, of Onamia was arrested Sunday. His arrest follows the capture of Lauren Jana Sue Day, 25, of Onamia and a juvenile suspect on Thursday, March 19.

The arrests were made in connection to the death of 39-year-old Jason Carl Stoltz, who died from a gunshot wound to the chest. His body was found around 7 p.m. on March 2 in a car parked in the Bug Hill area of Onamia.

"I would like to thank the public for their cooperation in bringing these three suspects to justice," Mille Lacs Band Tribal Police Chief Jared Rosati said in a statement. "Our hope is that with all three suspects in custody, the family of the victim can find some small measure of closure."

Information gathered from the arrest is being forwarded to the Mille Lacs County Attorne, who is preparing a criminal complaint.

"While we are not currently seeking any additional suspects, our officers will continue to actively gather evidence in this case," Rosati added. "I would also like to express my appreciation to our law enforcement partners in the Mille Lacs and Pine County Sheriffs' Offices and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for their help in apprehending these suspects."
