Minnesota Approves 2 Labs To Test Medical Marijuana

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Another step in the process as medical cannabis becomes legal in Minnesota in just a few months.

Minnesota's medical cannabis program is still on track to begin this summer. The Minnesota Department of Health is approving two laboratories to test the products that will be coming from the state's medical cannabis manufacturers.

Assistant Health Department Commissioner Manny Munson-Regala says the labs will also make sure the cannabis formulations for patients are accurate.

Munson-Regala says he expects three of the eight medical cannabis patient centers to be open when the product becomes legal in Minnesota July 1. The others will open shortly thereafter.
