Accomplish With Kylie: Komfy Kozy

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Kendall Emfield throws a lot of parties for a 16-year-old, but these aren't your typical teenage get-togethers.

"It's very social because it's not something you have to concentrate too hard on," Kendall said. "We'll have 15 people over and they kind of come and go throughout the day."

Kendall throws blanket-making parties.

"All my friends love it. They all love to help out whenever I ask," Kendall said. "They like to do it because they know it's making a difference to other people."

Kendall donates all the blankets to Minneapolis Children's Hospitals and Make-A-Wish Minnesota.

Sometimes she even delivers the homemade blankets in person.

"I remember the first time there were a ton of kids that came down and most of them would come down in wheelchairs or with machines," Kendall said. "That was sad to see but it was also fun to watch them get really excited over getting a blanket."

Kendall started Komfy Kozy when she was 12-years-old.

"I started making fleece blankets with friends for birthday gifts or just around the house," Kendall said. "It just happened out of nowhere. We didn't expect it to become a company, it was just something I did as a hobby."

Seven hundred blankets later, that hobby now comforts families all across Minnesota.

"A lot times we get thank you notes from the families who get the Make-A-Wish blankets," Kendall said. "They send pictures of the kids with the blanket and that's really sweet."

Kendall makes the blankets from donations. If you want to help out visit, visit Komfy Kozy online.
