'Love Wins' As Thousands Turn Out For Twin Cities Pride Parade

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The rain held off just long enough Sunday morning for what may have been a record turnout for this year's Pride festivities in Minneapolis.

Thousands of people lined Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis. Spectators and participants were celebrating in the wake of the Supreme Court's historic same-sex marriage decision.

The chant "Love Wins" seemed to be the unofficial anthem.

"I feel like we're moving into a different era, a different consciousness where love of humanity is being birthed," said Bria Hanson of St. Paul.

Political, business and church leaders all had spots in the parade.

Organizers estimate more than 150,000 people packed downtown.

Across the nation, there were throngs of people taking to the streets.

San Francisco estimates more than 1 million people attended its pride parade.
