Some Minnesota Students Head Back To School

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The weeks of playing in the sun and killing afternoons with video games are now over for a number of metro area students.

It's back-to-school time for students attending Minneapolis Public Schools. More than 35,000 are enrolled in the district.

While many private schools start next Monday, Aug. 31, most public schools still start the day after Labor Day, which is Sept. 8.

Parents who still have back-to-school shopping to finish will be keeping a close eye on that price tag. According to Money Magazine, parents of elementary school students will spend on average $630 per student on clothing, supplies and electronics. For high schoolers, the average is $660.
