Elk River House Fire Claims Life Of Male Victim, Dog

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An Elk River house fire has claimed the lives of one male occupant and a dog, according to city officials.

Elk River authorities say at 12:20 a.m. Friday, Elk River police and fire crews responded to the 911 call of a house fire on the 1100 block of 187th Avenue.

Upon arrival, emergency responders observed a heavy fire coming from the house. Additional fire crews from Ramsey and Zimmerman/Livonia also responded to assist.

After the fire was extinguished, one male occupant and a dog were found deceased inside. Occupants in an adjoining unit were able to safely evacuate.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The identity and age of the victim has not been released.
