Funeral Set For Fallen St. Paul Firefighter

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Funeral plans have been set for the St. Paul firefighter and paramedic who died suddenly earlier this week.

Shane Clifton, 39, worked as a firefighter and paramedic for the St. Paul Fire Department at Station No. 14.

According to the fire department, just after 5 p.m. Monday Clifton told his colleagues that he wasn't feeling well. He then suddenly collapsed.

Clifton was treated by fellow firefighters and EMTs, then taken to Regions Hospital where he was treated for several hours. He died a few hours later.

A funeral will be held for Clifton from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, located at 1669 Arcade Avenue. The burial will be held at Fort Snelling at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, it is preferred that memorials be sent to a fund that has been established for his family.

Funds can be sent to the "Shane Clifton Memorial Fund" at Alliance Bank Attn: Carla Baier, located at 55 E. 5th Street Suite 115 in St. Paul.
