1 Firefighter Hurt Battling Minneapolis House Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say one person made it out safely but a home suffered significant damage in a house fire in Minneapolis Saturday morning.

Fire crews were called to a two-story home on the 100 block of Valley View Place shortly after 5 a.m. when firefighters arrived, the blaze was mainly in the attic but fire was showing from the roof.

Authorities say the homeowners were not home at the time of the fire, but their son was and got out safely. It took crews a little more than an hour to get the fire knocked down and under control.

One firefighter was evaluated at the scene for a strained back. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
