Confirmed: Empathy Button Coming To Facebook

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – There'll soon be yet another way to express dislike on the Internet.

On Tuesday, Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that the company is working on a "dislike" button.

CNET.com reports that the button looks to be a tool for people to express empathy, giving users another way to respond to posts besides simply commenting or "liking."

"Not every moment is a good moment," Zuckerberg said, citing events like the Syrian refugee crisis.

While the addition of a dislike button seems simple, the CEO said it's actually a tricky enterprise, as he doesn't want posts on the world's largest social network to be subject to an upvote/downvote dynamic.

Facebook plans to begin testing the new button soon.
