St. Paul Police: Woman Killed, Man Arrested In Overnight Homicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- St. Paul police are investigating after a woman was killed inside a residence overnight.

According to police, around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to a residence on the 1000 block of 6th Street East on the report of a dispute.

When they arrived, officers found an injured woman inside the house. St. Paul Fire Medics responded, but the woman was pronounced dead.

Police arrested a man in connection to the death and he was taken to Regions Hospital where he's being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A neighbor across the street, Dolley Vang, says she's never had any problems with the suspect or the victim since moving into the neighborhood two months ago.

"I went across the street and introduced myself, you know, since being the new neighbor here," she said. "The guy … he seemed pretty nice guy, you know. I only met them once. We all mind our mind our own business during the day. We go to work and come home. The only time you see people outside is when they mow their lawn."

Police say investigators are not seeking anyone else in connection to the incident.

Police say there was another person – or there were other people – inside the house at the time of the incident. They are working to determine how many people were inside and what they may have witnessed.

The identities of the victim and suspect have not been released. They are waiting on the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office to release her identity and cause of death.

The investigation continues and police working to determine the relationship between the victim and suspect, what led to the incident and the cause of death.
