Sheriff: Domestic Assault Suspect Flees From Deputy Into Wooded Area, Still At Large

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Fillmore County Sheriff's Office says a domestic assault suspect is on the loose after an incident in Preston Friday morning.

At 9:56 a.m., Preston police responded to a report of a domestic assault suspect pounding on the victim's door. When police arrived, the suspect was seen leaving the scene.

The suspect, identified as Ryan Kite, has an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. He fled from a police officer on foot and then in a vehicle.

A short time later, Kite's vehicle was seen by a deputy driving west of Preston on US Highway 16. When the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, Kite fled and a pursuit ensued.

Shortly after the pursuit began, Kite lost control on Fillmore County Road 11, left the roadway and crashed. He then ran into a wooded area.

Despite a search from various agencies, Kite was not located.

Kite, who is not considered a danger to the public, is still wanted for a felony warrant and now a felony fleeing of a police officer.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 507-765-3874.
