Double Shooting Victims In South Minneapolis Identified

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two people who were fatally shot in a vehicle in South Minneapolis earlier this week have been identified.

Police were on routine patrol when they heard shots just before 2 a.m. Monday on the 2800 block of South 15th Avenue. They found a man and a woman inside a vehicle on South 15th Avenue. Police say the suspect was gone when they arrived on the scene.

The man was dead, and the woman -- who appeared to be a passenger in the car -- was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. On Tuesday afternoon, police reported that she had died late Monday night.

According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, the victims were 39-year-old Frank Penny of Brooklyn Center, who died of a gunshot wound to the torso, and 23-year-old Erin Miller of Minneapolis, who died of a gunshot wound to the head.
