Timberwolves Invite 100 Military Members To Practice

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves are hosting 100 members of the military as a way of saying thank you for their service.

Wolves coaches and their wives or significant others served the active soldiers and veterans brunch on Tuesday morning before bringing them to the team's practice facility to meet the players.

Wolves players competed against the soldiers in a shooting game and also took pictures with them before they watched some practice.

Coach Sam Mitchell says he would have joined the military had he not gotten a basketball scholarship in high school. He says having them at practice helps underscore to his players what's really important in life.

Veteran Kevin Martin says the players have the utmost respect for the sacrifice and service the troops give every day.
