Police Investigating Body Found In Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police are investigating after the body of an adult male was found on the sidewalk in north Minneapolis Tuesday morning.
According to a police spokesperson, officers responded to a call to the area near 34th and Fremont Avenues North, a heavily traveled school bus route.
They found a man's body that appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound, police said. He was dead at the scene.
Cyndie Zimmerman told WCCO that her neighbor called police at about 5 a.m. after seeing the body on the sidewalk when he was heading into work. She said her mother also saw the man's body when she walked to the bus stop.
"We don't hear anything in our house. It's sound proof almost. We don't hear anything until we come out the house the next morning. It's scary that all this stuff is happening so close to our house," Zimmerman said.
It's a heavily traveled bus route, and a two block police perimeter preventing some people from walking out their front doors. In some cases, it forced children and adults to walk longer distances to their school and city bus stops.
No other details were immediately available, and police did not have a suspect description.
The victim was not immediately identified, pending word from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. It is unknown whether the victim lived in the neighborhood or how long he had been on the street.
