Body Found In Bemidji, 2 Arrested In Woman's Disappearance

BEMIDJI, Minn. (AP/WCCO) — A man who's considered a person of interest in the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend has been arrested on an unrelated charge. And now police are saying that a body has been exhumed from a shallow grave.

The Bemidji Police Department said 40-year-old Marchello Anthony Cimmarusti was arrested Wednesday on domestic abuse charges stemming from an Oct. 6 incident involving 31-year-old Rose Downwind. A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court Nov. 9 to face those charges.

Downwind was last seen Oct. 21 leaving a Bemidji residence. Investigators have said they've uncovered evidence suggesting foul play in her disappearance.

They said that a body found northwest of Bemidji will be sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for confirmation of identity.

Cimmarusti and 31-year-old Brandon Joseph Rossbach were both arrested for their roles in the case, the police department said.

Police say Cimmarusti contacted Downwind the day she disappeared although he was ordered to stay away from her.

They are also named a third person of interest in the case.
