6th Republican To Join Race For Kline's 2nd District Seat

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A sixth Republican candidate entering the race for Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District.

Prior Lake resident Darlene Miller filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to launch her campaign on Wednesday. She'll vie for the Republican nomination to replace Rep. John Kline, who is retiring after seven terms.

Miller owns and runs Burnsville-based machining company Permac Industries. She had previously told The Associated Press she was considering a bid but did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.

Her entry in the race expands the GOP field as Democrats look to unite behind one candidate. Minneapolis doctor Mary Lawrence ended her campaign for the Democratic nomination on Tuesday, clearing the way for Angie Craig to get the party's nod.
