Crews Battle Fire At Abandoned Warehouse In Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Firefighters battled more than a blaze at an abandoned warehouse in Minneapolis on Sunday. They had to fight it along with extreme cold.

The Minneapolis Fire Department was called to the scene at 30th Ave. SE and the University of Minnesota Transitway at about 5 p.m. When firefighters arrived, heavy flames were showing from the roof and a defensive strategy was employed.

Authorities say that strategy was effective as crews battled the blaze from the outside.

Metro Transit brought in buses to allow firefighters to warm up during rotations as they work in the subzero conditions, and paramedics are on scene in the event of any injuries.

There were no victims and no injuries reported as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
