Twins Fans Soak Up The Sun In Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Twins are back in action down in sunny Ft. Myers, Fla.

Twins pitchers and catchers have been at it for nearly a week, but the team held its first full-squad workout on Sunday.

Paul Molitor is back for his sophomore season as manager. And he's getting coaching help from a lot of former players, including Torii Hunter, Rod Carew and Tony Oliva.

WCCO's Mark Rosen made his way down to Florida Monday and will be there all week providing updates from Spring Training.

He caught up with a few Twins fans who were soaking in the sun at the team's complex on Monday. One die-hard fan calls herself "Baseball Betty."

"I come every year because for the simple reason: I love baseball, and that's my reason. And I love the Twins," Betty Kline of Lonsdale said. "And I get away from the 20-degree below weather."

"It's up close and personal here and we love it. It's really fun to watch them work out and have fun. We enjoy that," Julie Libby of Hanover said. "Plus we enjoy getting autographs for our grandchildren.

The Twins continue workouts the rest of the week but their first Spring Training is just two days away.
