Sherburne Co. Man Accused Of Child Neglect Fails To Appear At Sentencing

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A warrant has been issued for a Sherburne County man charged with child neglect after he failed to appear at his sentencing trial.

Michael Scott Gunderson, 33, was charged with two counts of child neglect after his 2- and 3-year-olds were found weak and thin.

On March 12, 2015, two children were brought in to the hospital by their mother, Roberta Gunderson, after she found them malnourished at their house.

Roberta had been out of state for two months and the kids were in the care of Michael.

Investigators subsequently searched the home and found it "extremely filthy." During the search they reported garbage, dog feces and drug paraphernalia scattered around the house.

Michael was charged with two counts of child neglect and one of drug possession.

On Thursday, Gunderson failed to show for his sentencing trial.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
