Minnesotans Out Enjoying The Sunshine On #Top10WxDay

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- With clear skies and temperatures in the mid-60s across Minnesota, it was a Top 10 Weather Day at WCCO!

At the Como Zoo in St. Paul, families weren't the only ones enjoying the sun. While many of us were excited to be able to get outside in the early spring weather, many of the animals are too.

"With the gorgeous weather we're having, we're able to let the tortoises out early," zoo employee Matt Reinartz said. "The gorillas are coming out getting fresh air on a beautiful day like today."

Those animals are out about three weeks ahead of schedule, but even if you weren't there to check out the animals, the walk was worth the sunshine.

If you didn't get a chance to monkey around outside, Saturday's forecast doesn't look bad either, with even higher temperatures and partly cloudy skies before clouds and rain set in later that night.

The Twins may be away at spring training, but believe it or not, we are one month out from their regular season. Here at home, there is another baseball team prepping for the season -- the Saints are getting ready to play ball at CHS Field in St. Paul.

The Saints General Manager Derek Sharrer says the unseasonable warm weather has moved up field preparations by three weeks.

"No question people are thinking about baseball," he said. "Once the snow melts off, it's a matter of applying the top dressing to the field, tilling up in the infield a little bit and laying down the regular surface for the season."

The Saints regular season starts May 19, and tickets go on sale a week from tomorrow.
