Dog Shot Multiple Times In The Face Going Up For Adoption

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The owners of dog that was shot multiple times in the face in Stearns County has surrendered the canine to an animal shelter for adoption.

The dog, a yellow lab dubbed Remington by those who helped him recover, was found last month after being shot six times. Four of the wounds, which were believed to be from a pellet gun, marked the dog's face.

The Tri-County Humane Society, which is nursing Remington back to health, says the dog's owners came forward after the shooting and are not the perpetrators.

However, the owners say they can no longer care for Remington due to medical issues.

The owners told the humane society that Remington is a farm dog who loves to roam. They said they don't keep inside pets and were concerned that cooping Remington up would reduce his quality of life.

"It is our belief that [Remington] was very loved and led a good life with them," the humane society said in a statement. "We believe they made a very loving choice for him by signing him over to us."

Currently, Remington is in a foster home and will later be up for adoption. Already, there are three deposits down from people who want to bring him home.

The person responsible for the shooting has yet to be found.

A $1,550 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
