Vikings Sign Andre Smith, Terence Newman, Justin Trattou

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have announced the signings of offensive tackle Andre Smith, defensive back Terence Newman and defensive lineman Justin Trattou.

The Vikings made signings official on Friday.

Smith comes to the Vikings to bolster the competition on the offensive line after starting his career in Cincinnati. The former sixth overall pick gets a one-year deal to compete with Phil Loadholt and T.J. Clemmings for the starting right tackle spot.

Newman followed coach Mike Zimmer to Minnesota from Cincinnati last year and led the team with three interceptions. He is entering his 14th season and will be the oldest defensive player in the league next year.

Trattou is a backup defensive lineman who played in five games last season.
