In a previous life I was a TV Producer, It was a fun & I miss it a ton, but it was a COMPLETLEY different beast than producing the Chad Hartman Show. Here is a big difference...in television, we embrace the "days". On the calendar, kept by someone with a very creative mind, there is a new random day: National Coffee Day (September 29) National Peanut Butter Day (January 24) and if you are feeling up to it, International Talk Like A Pirate Day (September 19). And it happens that on March 23rd its: National Puppy Day.

Us folks in radio rarely participate in the "days" just because it is hard to articulate a certain day on the radio. Thus, we skip out on such occasions as "National Pancake Day" - This week has been tough so far. Many of us woke up on Tuesday morning with the shocking news of a yet another terrorist attack, this time in Brussels, Belgium. The sadness I feel for the people in Brussels is great, and no matter how conditioned we are to the news of terrorism in the world, the images still haunt. So, when I got word that Wednesday was 'National Puppy Day' I was all over it. I reached out to my friends at the Humane Society, but unfortunately, they were already committed to showing off puppies at WCCO-TV.

I contacted Secondhand Hounds and they had 2 puppies ready to visit us on the show. Abra & Cadabera are pure bred min pin's that need heart surgery and they need the surgery to live long lives. And it was a no-brainer to have them come in to the studio for the TV appearance that Chad does each day. Ali and Kim had no idea, and they both had a super funny reaction to Adam bringing in the pups. Here's what: Adam was actually kinda nervous to hold/handle 2 puppies for the show. I was surprised, he seemed like he would have fun with those 2. Once they came inside the studio - Adam was convinced he could do it & according to the pictures, he did a great job.

Maybe this year, National Puppy Day came along at just the right time... When I met the two puppies I kind of exhaled and really had a good smile (Check out the pic!) They were so lovey and just awesome to spend a few moments with. I wholeheartedly believe that puppies should be a mandatory part of every workplace. Can you imagine? Maybe people would remember to breathe, smile, laugh, and let some of the heavy burdens of life ...float away. While being licked to death by a cute doggie.

You can learn more about Abra and Cadabera, and perhaps if you can, you can help out. Here is a link to the GoFundMe Page.
