1 Killed In Head-On Crash On Icy Koochiching Co. Roads

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A woman from International Falls was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Koochiching County Wednesday morning, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

The crash happened at about 7:45 a.m. along Highway 71. The State Patrol said that a Mazda Tribute heading south crossed the center line and struck a Ford pickup truck heading in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Mazda, 45-year-old Virginia Batchelder, was killed in the crash. The driver of the pickup truck, 46-year-old Michele Ziemba of Littlefork, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators said that road conditions were icy at the time of the crash.
