MnSCU Faculty Seek St. Cloud State Leader's Removal

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The union representing faculty at the seven Minnesota State Colleges and Universities doesn't plan to take action on a resolution passed by members asking for the removal of St. Cloud State University's president.

The resolution passed on a voice vote with no debate at a meeting of the Inter Faculty Organization last weekend. IFO spokeswoman Jonathan Bohn said Wednesday the floor resolution by a Mankato professor came as a surprise to St. Cloud faculty.

Bohn says some Mankato faculty members suggest St. Cloud's declining enrollment is somehow impacting the amount of state support other campuses receive. But, Bohn says all the MnSCU campuses are facing financial struggles.

Bohn says his organization won't act on the resolution's call to pursue removing St. Cloud President Earl Potter without some input from the St. Cloud faculty.
