Boy, 17, In Critical Condition After 'Car Surfing' Fall

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities in Columbia Heights say a 17-year-old boy is in critical condition after he fell while "car surfing."

The city's police department says the fall happened late Tuesday night near the 2100 block of Forest Drive. Responding officers found the boy, who is from Columbia Heights, unresponsive in the roadway.

Police say a group of boys were driving around a residential area when two of them decided to ride on the hood of the car.

The 17-year-old, who was not identified, fell off as the car was traveling about 20 mph.

Emergency crews brought the boy to North Memorial Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
