Jordana's Blog: Scary Blog

Last night/morning the doorbell rang at 3:03 am. I figured I was dreaming and tried to go back to sleep.

Then it rang again.

I quickly and nervously woke handsome husband. We instinctively both headed downstairs to get the door. At the top of the steps we realized nothing good can come from answering the door at 3:05 a.m. so we rushed to the window. We also called 911.

All was quiet outside but I was a nervous wreck. We felt a little silly telling 911 we were calling because someone rang our doorbell but they said they'd send an officer to check.

In the few minutes before he arrived we saw a young man wandering on our street in front of our house. We were glued to the window counting the seconds hoping he didn't come to the house again. As the officers car approached, the man stuck out his thumb and tried to hitch a ride!

Handsome husband and I actually laughed. Two squads approached and the would-be hitch-hikers hands both went up above his head. Thank goodness. He stumbled off the curb and we opened a window so we could hear him being questioned.

The dude was so drunk he had no idea where he was. The officers asked him if he wanted them to call him a cab or take him to the station. He couldn't decide. They put him in the car and drove off. Whew.

For the record, here's a message to any future drunk/lost people or any more dangerous criminals: don't even think about ringing my doorbell in the middle of the night. I have a weapon.

Have you ever had to call 911? Share!
