Hamilton Reportedly Staying On $10 Bill

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- According to reports, the U.S. Treasury Department will announce that Alexander Hamilton -- subject of the wildly popular Broadway musical and also the first U.S. Treasury Secretary -- will remain on the $10 bill.

According to POLITICO, current secretary Jack Lew will also announce that Harriet Tubman will replace former president Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill, and that the back of the $5 bill will depict various civil rights era leaders.

Last summer, there was a debate over whether they should replace Hamilton's picture with that of a historic American woman.

The debate ended with critics suggesting that Jackson be targeted for replacement instead, as POLITICO reports, because of his role in moving American Indians off of their land.

Jackson reportedly may still remain on the $20 in some form.
