Sioux Falls Man Charged With 13th DWI In Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A South Dakota man with 12 drunk driving convictions is facing another one after being arrested last week in Minnesota after reportedly going the wrong way down Interstate 90. He was later found to have a blood alcohol content of more than three times the legal limit.

The State Patrol posted on its Facebook page Wednesday that 50-year-old Alexander Valentinovich Sazonov, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is facing his 13th DWI charge.

Troopers say Sazonov was pulled over after a call came in about a white van going the wrong way down Interstate 90 near Worthington.

Inside Sazonov's van, troopers found several empty cans as well as a 24-pack of beer. Sazonov admitted to having a few.

After field sobriety tests, he was arrested and booked into the Nobles County Jail, where a blood test was performed. The test showed that Sazonov had a BAC of 0.24.

The patrol says Sazonov's most recent DWI conviction was in 2013. His other drunk driving convictions go back to 1988.
