An impromptu dance party featuring Prince's music is planned at First Avenue Thursday night in downtown Minneapolis. The festivities are said to begin at 11 p.m. and will last all night. The venue later announced parties for Friday and Saturday night as well, starting at 1:30 a.m.

Prince is largely credited with helping the music venue gain the prominence it holds today -- filming a large portion of his classic movie "Purple Rain" there, and recording several songs on the accompanying album at the venue with a live audience.

First Avenue said the events would take place after Thursday, Friday and Saturday night's scheduled concerts. There is no cover charged, but the events will be limited to those age 18 and older.
