Carver Co. Official: DEA Is Currently Not Part Of Prince Investigation

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is currently not involved in Prince death investigation.

That's according to Carver County Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud, who confirmed the DEA's absence in the investigation early Thursday afternoon.

"The DEA is not a part of this investigation," Kamerud said. "We are going to gather all of the information and all of the evidence and then review it with the county attorney to see if any laws were broken, but right now it's a death investigation."

The DEA said it is not commenting on whether or not it is involved in the Prince death investigation at this time.

Prince was found unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park, and was soon pronounced dead. The results of his autopsy may not be released for three to four weeks.
