Savage Hit-And-Run, Shooting Under Investigation
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in the south metro say five people turned themselves in on Saturday following a hit-and-crash in a school parking lot that ended with a reported shooting.
The Savage Police Department says a report of a crash at Eagle Ridge Jr. High came in shortly before 8 a.m. When officers responded to the scene, they found an Audi with heavy damage to its driver's side.
Witnesses told officers that an SUV was chasing the Audi in the school's parking lot, adding that the SUV T-boned the car.
The two people in the Audi got out, witnesses said, and fired shots at the SUV before running away. The SUV took off in an unknown direction.
The SUV was found shortly after the crash in a parking lot off of County Road 42.
Police say investigators were then led to a house on the 13700 block of Inglewood Avenue. Five people inside turned themselves in after a SWAT team responded to the home.
It's unclear if the five were in the SUV at the time of the crash.
Police say the Audi involved in the crash had recently been stolen from Brooklyn Center. There was no word on if anyone of the people who reportedly fired shots had been arrested.
