Minnesota Loses To Iowa 8-2 In Big Ten Baseball Tourney
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Iowa's Joel Booker tied a Big Ten tournament record with five hits as Iowa upset top-seeded Minnesota 8-2 on Wednesday.
Booker reached base in all six of his at-bats and added a steal for the Hawkeyes (29-25), who also got four hits from Tyler Peyton.
Booker pushed Iowa's lead to 5-0 in the second inning, scoring from first base off a single. C.J. Eldred (3-8) made sure the Gophers (34-20) didn't come back, allowing just two runs and striking out five in seven innings.
Connor Schaefbauer provided Minnesota's only runs with a two-run homer in the third.
Gophers starter Matt Fielder (7-3) was knocked out of the game in the third inning after giving up five earned runs.
