Minnesota Wild Players Help Raise Money For Wildfire Victims

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – While the Minnesota Wild watch and wonder about their future with a new head coach, some players committed themselves to a worthy cause.

On Thursday, six of them gathered in Edina to help raise money for victims of the Canadian wildfires by signing autographs.

Jared Spurgeon's wife Danielle is from the area. The fires took down her parents' home.

Players said it's time like this where the hockey community comes together.

"You see across the league a lot of players have family or know someone that's there and also been affected by it. But it's a pretty unique community where you play hard against each other on the ice but at the end of the day you're all friends," Zach Parise said.

All proceeds will go to the Red Cross.
