Timberwolves LaVine Chosen To USA Select Team

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- USA Basketball announced Tuesday that Minnesota Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine was one of 24 players named to the USA Men's Select Team.

The group will train with this year's USA Men's National Team in Las Vegas during training camp July 18-21. The national team will play in the upcoming Rio Summer Olympics.

In his second NBA season, LaVine played in all 82 games and averaged 14 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in about 28 minutes per game. He shot better than 45 percent from the field and nearly 80 percent from the free-throw line.

He was 26th in the NBA in three-point accuracy last season at nearly 39 percent.

LaVine also won the NBA's Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star Weekend for the second straight year.
