Couple Asks For Wedding Photos Back After Camera Theft

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, but for a couple married in Minneapolis this weekend, their pictures are worth so much more.

The cameras used to take pictures at Adam and Victora's wedding were stolen on Sunday. The couple lives near Chicago, but they are from Minnesota. They met at the Minneapolis Public Library.

Matthew Olson, the groom's brother, says all the family wants back are the memories.

"I hear from so many couples, whether they were recently married or married decades ago, that those photos are that constant reminder of that special day when all your loved ones gathered to celebrate this commitment with each other," he said.

Olson says his father, who was the wedding photographer, dropped off the cameras inside their car parked at the Hilton ramp in downtown Minneapolis. The family then went to lunch for about an hour.

When they came back, the camera bags were missing. The bags contained about $10,000 worth of camera equipment and all the photos from the wedding.

Minneapolis police obtained a surveillance photo, which shows a man in an elevator with what appear to be camera bags. Security officials say they aren't sure if the man was involved in the theft.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to CrimeStoppers at 651-452-7463.
