Goin' To The Lake: Nevis (Day 2)

NEVIS, Minn. (WCCO) -- It's the time of year when a weekend, or a week at the lake is part of the routine for many Minnesotans. That's why Frank Vascellaro and Chris Shaffer are Goin' to the Lake in Nevis, to show off great things to see and do.

Here's what they were up to for the second day of their trip.

Rapid River Logging Camp & Muskie Waters Co.

If you're looking for a good, very big breakfast, stop by the Rapid River Logging Camp. It's just outside Park Rapids a few miles from here. You'll find an authentic breakfast served in an authentic loggers dining hall.

When you're done, explore the rest of camp. Old-time tools from the time when this area was big for logging. Kids can also check out the chickens and just explore the beautiful property.

A lot of viewers told us we had to stop at Muskie Waters Co. here in Nevis, and we found out why today.
There's tons of old-school candy you can find here: Big League Chew, Pop Rocks and much more! There's a bunch of salt water taffy to choose from, too.

Heartland Bike Trail

The Heartland State Trail was one of the first rail-to-trail bike paths in the country. It's 49 miles long, and nice and flat because it used to be a train route.

Frank and Chris joined a group ride Friday morning to get the day started.

Firefly Event Barn

The Firefly Event Barn is just a couple years old. Owners Brent and Lindsey Nicklason spent a year making it the wonderful space it is today. You can rent it for weddings, graduations, reunions or anything you want to celebrate.

Water Wars!

We do these trips to show you fun things to do with the family if you're ever in this area. When things got hot on Friday, Frank and Chris found a fun way to cool down: Water Wars!
