Man Injured After Motorcycle Hits Deer In Stearns County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 65-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries after he struck a deer while riding a motorcycle just north of Brooten on Sunday, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities responded to the accident at about 3:22 p.m. on County Road 27 at 295th St. in North Fork Township, just north of Brooten.

The motorcyclist, identified as Allen Berg of Starbuck, was heading southbound on County Road 27 on his 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he hit a deer. He then lost control and crashed into a ditch. Berg had to be airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Authorities say he was the only occupant of the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Belgrade Police Department, Brooten Rescue, Brooten Ambulance, Minnesota State Patrol and Life Link helicopter assisted the Stearns County Sheriff's Office at the scene.
