Man Charged With Fatally Shooting St. Paul Man In the Back

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Brooklyn Park man is formally accused of fatally shooting a St. Paul man last week in Minneapolis.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office says 26-year-old Daquan Bradley was charged Tuesday with second-degree murder and for being a felon in possession of a gun in connection with the June 30 shooting.

Bradley is accused of shooting 27-year-old Mario McGee in the back just after 8 a.m. on the 2400 block of Oakland Avenue South.

Police received reports of gunshots, and found McGee dead in the street when they arrived.

The criminal complaint says a woman who told police she was McGee's ex-girlfriend says the victim came to her apartment. The woman was with Bradley and several other people.

The woman said Bradley and another person started beating McGee in the apartment's hallway, but he eventually fled the building.

A witness says Bradley and McGee's ex went into her bedroom before they heard a gunshot, and then heard her scream, "Oh my God, you just shot him."

Other witnesses outside told police they saw McGee running from the building before he was hit by a single bullet and fell to the ground. Another witness said they heard a window opening before they heard the gunshot.

Bradley -- who was convicted of armed robbery as a juvenile, a later convicted twice for being a felon in possession of a weapon – was arrested at his home.

Police say they found a handgun in his pants' waistband. His first court appearance is set for Wednesday.
