Children March, Take Stand Against Violence In St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Children are taking their own stand against violence in the wake of Philando Castile's shooting death.

Kids gathered at Maxfield Elementary School in St. Paul on Sunday. At noon, they marched for peace in their communities and around the country.

Organizers say the violence has a big impact on them.

"They're affected by it and they see it just like we do, but they are not absorbing it the way that we do," Carneada Milton said. "I just want to make sure they know it's still safe to be out here. It's still safe to be a child.

The march ended at JJ Hill Montessori Magnet School in St. Paul. Philando Castile worked there as a cafeteria supervisor there. and had been with the school district for 14 years.
