Wolves Announce Signing Of Jordan Hill

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Wednesday that the team has signed free agent forward/center Jordan Hill.

Last Wednesday, the Wolves agreed to terms with the 6-foot-10 athlete on a two-year, $8 million contract, according to a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the deal.

Hill, 28, spent this past season in Indiana with the Pacers where he averaged 8.8 points on 50.6 percent shooting, and 6.2 rebounds in a career-best 73 games played. For the 2015-2016 season, Hill averaged 10.7 points and 7.1 rebounds in 11 starts and scored in double figures 20 times for the Pacers.

Hill joins Cole Aldrich, who signed his three-year, $22 million deal on Wednesday, as rugged post players added by new coach and president Tom Thibodeau and GM Scott Layden in their first foray into free agency.

They give the Timberwolves some healthy backups to Karl-Anthony Towns and Gorgui Dieng, something the team did not have when the market opened.

In his seven years in the league, Hill has proven to be a solid rebounder and defender, two traits Thibodeau was looking to add.

The move gives the Timberwolves the maximum 15 guaranteed contracts.
