Minneapolis Man Charged In Fatal Brooklyn Center Shooting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minneapolis man is accused of murder in a Brooklyn Center shooting on Tuesday during an apparent drug deal that left a Mounds View man dead.
Lannon Burduince, 25, is expected to appear in Hennepin County Court on Friday on murder charges in the shooting death of 31-year-old Joshua Hofmann.
According to charges in the case, police were called at about 2:30 p.m. to a report of a shooting near the intersection of 66th and Camden Avenues North. When officers arrived, they found Hofmann dead in the driver's seat of a car. The Hennepin County Medical Center ruled Hofmann died of multiple gunshot wounds.
A woman in the car with Hofmann at the time of the incident told authorities they were there to purchase marijuana from a dealer. Instead, the dealer, identified as Burduince, tried to take $40 from Hofmann and shot him, the charges state.
The charges state the woman and another witness to shooting told authorities they saw Burduince run from the area to a nearby townhouse. Police surrounded it, he eventually came out and they arrested him. Officers found a 9-millimeter handgun under the deck at the townhome, which matched discharged casings found near the car where Hofmann was found dead.
The incident remains under investigation.
