Workin' For The Weekend: Rib Fest, Disc Golf & More

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- We hearty Minnesotans are known for toughing it out in the winter.

But we also don't let the heat keeps us indoors either.

In this week's Workin' for the Weekend, there are plenty of things to do to enjoy these dog days of summer.

Rib Fest

BBQ lovers, will be licking their chops this weekend at The Great Midwest Rib Fest at Mystic Lake.

Bib up and chow down on some of the best ribs in the country, and be sure to cast your vote for the Best of the Fest people's choice award!

Come for the feast and stay for the fun with live entertainment all weekend, including free outdoor concerts.

Festival admission and entertainment is free.

Ribs, sides and beverages will be available for purchase.

Lowertown Blues Festival

The Lowertown Blues Festival is back - this year for two nights.

Enjoy live blues and funk music in St. Paul's Mears Park Friday and Saturday.

Bands include The Family Stone, Otis Day and the Knights, and The Good, The Bad and The Funky.

All ages are welcome for this free festival.

Disc Golf

With this sweltering heat, you won't find any snow at Afton Alps this weekend.

But you can take in a round of disc golf at the brand new Championship Caliber Disc Golf Course.

The Grand Opening party is this Saturday. Day passes are $10. This weekend only buy one pass get one free.

River Rats Show

And it's not summer in Minneapolis without taking some of the Aquatennial's fun activities.

On Thursday, don't miss the Twin Cities River Rats Show on the Mississippi River.

On Saturday, enjoy music, food, face painting and more before the Target Fireworks show which starts at 10 p.m.
