Girl Hurt After Being Hit By Falling Rock In Stearns County Park

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 17-year-old girl from Lake Henry was injured Tuesday when she was hit in the head by a falling rock at a park in Waite Park, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say the accident happened at about 3:14 p.m. in Quarry Park. A 17-year-old girl was floating on a flotation device near a rock cliff when a person walking on the cliff above accidentally caused a softball-sized rock to come loose from the cliff.

The rock hit the girl in the head, causing injury. The girl was taken by ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital to be treated for injuries.
