Police Seek Help Identifying Human Skull Found In Dead Man's Home

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police are asking for the public's help identifying a skull found near the body of a dead man in January.

It started when police responded to a report of an unresponsive man at a home in Forest City Township on the morning of Jan. 5. There, they found a man -- 77-year-old James Webster -- deceased, along with nearly 10 pounds of marijuana, more than $1,000 in cash and a human skull.

Surprisingly, police determined Webster died of natural causes. Police are still investigating a 70-year-old woman, who is a resident of the home.

What's confounded police is the skull, and its identity. An investigation by the Midwest Medical Examiner determined the the skull belonged to a man, likely in his mid-40's at the time of death who is of white or Hispanic ancestry. Witnesses told investigators the skull had been at the home for around 20 years after Webster had received the skull from a friend.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the skull, or James Webster's history, to call the Meeker County Sheriff's office.
