Victim In N. Mpls. Shooting Identified

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities have identified the man who was shot early Sunday morning on Minneapolis’ north side.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, shortly after midnight officers responded to ShotSpotter activity in the area of 31st and Colfax avenues.

Upon arrival officers found a 21-year-old Gavin Scott Spieker, of Minneapolis, suffering a gunshot wound.

Spieker was brought to North Memorial Medical Center where he later died. A medical examiner declared the cause of death a homicide.

The shooting is currently under investigation. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 612-692-8477. Anonymous tips can also be texted to 847411: just type MPD and enter the relevant information.

    By Sept. 8, nearly 3,000 black people had been shot in Chicago in 2016, an average of one shooting victim every two hours.
    If we work at it, and keep listening to BLM that officer involved shooting is our real problem then I think we can catch up to Chicago and be the leader in black on black shootings.
