Sheriff: Motorcyclist Seriously Hurt After Hitting Dirt Bike In Meeker County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 50-year-old Spicer man was seriously hurt Saturday when the motorcycle he was operating collided with a dirt bike in Harvey Township, according to the Meeker County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities responded to the crash at about 2:47 p.m. on County Highway 31, north of 310th Street in Harvey Township, which is located just north of Litchfield. When officers arrived, they learned the man driving a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a Yamaha dirt bike. A 15-year-old girl was operating the dirt bike and was traveling with another juvenile female who was operating an ATV.

Authorities say the girl on the dirt bike was heading southbound on County Highway 31 with the other female on the ATV. They stopped to turn eastbound into the driveway of a residence as the motorcyclist, identified as Raymond Lang, attempted to pass on their left. Lang hit the dirt bike as it was turning. Lang was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries.

The girl on the dirt bike, who was believed to be wearing a helmet, was taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office says the crash remains under investigation.
