Judge Denies Restraining Order Preventing Historic Theater’s Demolition

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A judge has ruled against a group’s request for a temporary restraining order preventing the demolition of a historic theater.

The Friends of the Terrace Theatre requested the restraining order to stop property owner Brixmor from demolishing the Robbinsdale, Minnesota, theater.

Prior to the group’s lawsuit, a Hy-Vee was planned for the site.

The group could still appeal the decision. A second group, Save the Historic Terrace Theatre, says the focus will now shift from preservation of the theater to the preservation of remaining artifacts.

The Terrace Theatre was built in 1951 and has been closed since 1999.

Now we have cry babies filing lawsuits to stop a building from being torn down? A building that is NOT Historic, but you mis-represent it as one in your headline to gather attention? If it truly was historic, our government would waste tax dollars on buying it, restoring it, and then leaving it gather dust.

The city should still buy it. They can tax increment finance a profitable Somali cultural center/Mosque/shopping center to serve the new demographics.

^ This guy! Clearly does not know what he’s talking about.
A lawyer on the case stated in court that this is the first time in known case history that a city has gone to court in support of a billion dollar corporation to argue FOR the destruction of a historic building.
Hey ho, way to go Robbinsdale.
Now, bring on the screaming, angry, name calling trumpians.
