MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A group fighting to prevent the demolition of a historic Minnesota theater say their efforts have failed.

Friends of the Historic Terrace, a group that has been trying to prevent the destruction of Robbinsdale’s Terrace Theatre, said the theater will be demolished at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The group previously filed a lawsuit to save the theater. A judge ruled against them, however, and they were unable to raise the more than $6 million dollars necessary to save the Terrace.

The group will hold an event on Nov. 5 at the Lodge in Robbinsdale to remember the Terrace Theatre, which first opened in 1951 and closed in 1999.
