Buxton Hits Inside-The-Park Homer On 1st Pitch Vs. White Sox

CHICAGO (AP) — Minnesota Twins speedster Byron Buxton hit an inside-the-park home run on the first pitch of Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Leading off for the first time this season, Buxton sent Chicago ace Chris Sale's 93 mph fastball to center field. Leury Garcia appeared to misjudge it as it carried toward the wall. The ball fell over his glove and hit against the wall.

Buxton never stopped and didn't have to slide as the relay home wasn't nearly in time. It was his 10th homer of the season.

It was the second inside-the-park homer by the Twins this season. Eduardo Nunez, who is now with San Francisco, did it against Tampa Bay on June 2.

It was the first such home run against the White Sox since Ian Kinsler of Texas on Aug. 23, 2013.

Garcia was replaced by J.B. Shuck in the second inning due to a sore hip.
